Effective August 1st, Dr. Gail Kist-Kline replaced Dr. Kevin Bright as Superintendent of Mason School District.

Bright announced his resignation earlier this year, but continued to serve as superintendent until July 31st. Bright will taking up the position of assistant superintendent at Lakewood School District in Toledo.

Kist-Kline said that she is thrilled to begin working as Mason’s superintendent. “My first few weeks have been amazing,” Kist-Kline said. “Mason is a great district.”

Prior to becoming superintendent at Mason, Kist-Kline served as superintendent at Wyoming City Schools for the past seven years. She also taught at Miami University, and was a principal at Princeton and St. Joseph Consolidated School, and assistant principal at Lakota Schools.

Kist-Kline said that moving from Wyoming to Mason was a tough decision initially, but that she relished the opportunity. “I’m not looking for something easy,” Kist-Kline said. “I love challenges and high expectations; I thrive on them.”

Kist-Kline said she is not planning on making major changes any time soon, but is instead focusing on learning how the district currently operates.

“I ask a lot of questions,” Kist-Kline said.

Kist-Kline said that she is eager to get to know the staff and students.

“There are great people here in Mason,” Kist-Kline said. “That’s what I’m most looking forward to.”
