On February 11, the Sycamore Aviators and Mason Comets put their rivalry aside to honor their beloved teammate.

Liz Lothrop, a 2013 Mason High School graduate, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008 at the age of 14. After going into remission in 2011, her doctors found a brain-growing brain tumor (also known as glioblastoma) in 2015.

While she lost her battle to cancer in 2016, her peers never forgot about her. Throughout the week, MHS organized a Love for Liz campaign, selling t-shirts in the Comet Zone to raise money for Cancer Free Kids, and during the match-up between two rivals, their differences were set aside to focus on the greater cause.
