On October 23, Dr. Robert Stewart — the Director of Ohio University’s Scripps School of Journalism — came to the high school alongside other OU faculty and Mason alumni for Scripps Day at MHS. The event opened in the Harvard Room at 12:30 P.M. with a full group introduction and discussion led by Stewart and the OU student panel (including Chronicle alumni Ashton Nichols and Abbey Marshall). Afterwards, students split up into their chosen breakout sessions.

Sessions Included:

Advertising and Strategic Communications — lead by Scripps Alumnus Pete Costanzo.

Broadcast Journalism — lead by Scripps School of Journalism faculty member Mary Rogus.

Communication Studies, Speech and Debate — lead by Communications Associate Director Jerry L. Miller.

Entertainment Media — lead by Immersive Media Association President Iggy Cossman.

Following the breakout sessions was roughly an hour of break time in which students could interact with Scripps School of Journalism faculty and directors individually. At 3:30 P.M., a parent and student session was held in the KIVA to give parents insight on admissions procedures into Ohio University.
