On November 17, senior Evan Haas signed his letter of intent to Wright State University to join one of the top bowling programs in the country.
Haas lead the Greater Miami Conference (GMC) as a junior last year with an average of 225.9, and was named GMC Bowler of the Year. After touring Wright State and their bowling program, Haas said he established chemistry with the players and coaching staff.
“As soon as I walked into Wright State and walked into the admissions office, there just seemed to be a good vibe,” Haas said. “My dad went there as well and I really liked the players and coaches. I think it will be a really good fit for me.”
In the spring, Haas is also an infielder for the baseball team and had to choose which sport to pursue. He said it did not take long to realize bowling was the most fun for him.
“I always have had fun with (bowling),” Haas said. “I like all of the kids that bowl; they are all super nice, and I really like competing with them.
After making his decision, Haas believes the Comets have the potential to dominate the GMC, and the state of Ohio this upcoming season.
“It feels good to have all of the hard work pay off,” Haas said. “I can now focus on the season and this year. I think we have the best team that has ever come through Mason; all five starters are averaging over 200, and I personally think that we will win the GMC, have a chance to go to state and have a shot at winning it.”
