Review: a not so killer queen
Jake Sapp | Staff Writer
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is a high energy biopic that wants to explore every single aspect of Queen without truly sinking its teeth into anything substantial. The film glazes over events with little sense for pacing and provides an ambitious glimpse into the life of the famed Freddie Mercury, but rarely sticks to any one subject long enough for it to leave a lasting impact. By the end of the two hour endeavor, Queen feels more like a collection of cardboard cutouts than a tightly knit family of musicians. Even with its flaws, Bohemian Rhapsody is able to deliver on a few incredible moments of heart-pounding musical performances that truly capture the feeling of being at a live concert. Although it tries to rock you, the movie bites the dust in the end.
