Why High School journalism?
In a study done by the Newspaper Association of America Foundation, participation in high school journalism boasts 3 major benefits:
- Better grades in high school
- Higher ACT scores
- Better grades as a college freshman
However, these are not the only benefits of becoming a journalist in high school. In a previous study, NAA found that “students who work on their high school newspapers or student-oriented sections of their hometown papers and who use newspapers in class or for homework are more engaged in civic activities, better educated and more involved citizens as they grow older.”
